Microsoft for Startups
Microsoft
Azure credits for private, for-profit software startups below Series C. Without an investor, you start with $200, reach $5,000 after business verification, and can work up through milestones. With a referral code from an investor in Microsoft's network, you start with $1,000 and approved startups can reach up to $150,000.
What you can get

Current status
Microsoft's application guide and FAQ were both updated on 30 October 2026 and show no deadline. Microsoft does not publish its investor list.
Who can apply
- Builds a software product or service that the company owns.
- Privately held and for-profit, with no Series C or later round.
- Headquartered in a country where Azure services are available.
- No more than $350,000 in lifetime free Azure credits.
- Not an agency, consultancy, educational or government body, and not in crypto mining.
- Needs a new personal Microsoft account with no earlier Azure offer. Work and company email accounts are refused.
How to apply
- 1Click Get started on the Microsoft for Startups page and sign in with a personal Microsoft account.
- 2Enter a 10-character investor code, or continue without one and verify through LinkedIn.
- 3Set up an Azure account, including a payment card.
- 4Microsoft reviews most applications in about three business days.
The catch
Credits come in stages with time limits: $200 lasts 90 days and $5,000 lasts 180 days. Miss the next milestone and the subscription moves to pay-as-you-go on your card.
