Landlord review site for renters

You build a searchable site where tenants rate landlords and properties on repairs, deposit returns, rent increases and fairness of the lease. Users search by landlord name or building before they sign. Reviews carry a verification step, such as a rental agreement or work email, so people trust them. You start in one or two cities, seeded with reviews you collect from real tenants. Later you earn from premium reports, landlord response pages and partners such as movers and lease reviewers.

Renters hand over a deposit and sign a lease knowing almost nothing about the landlord. Stories about unreturned deposits, ignored leaks and sudden rent hikes sit scattered across social threads and are hard to search. The tenant finds out the hard way, and the landlord faces no consequence.

1. 1Pick one city and one pocket, such as students near a college, and ask 50 renters about their landlords with a short form.
2. 2Publish the first 100 reviews yourself as a free searchable list, after asking each reviewer for permission to share.
3. 3Share the site in local housing and college groups asking tenants to add reviews, and add verification as volume grows.

Reviews name real people, so expect angry landlords, legal notices for defamation, and fake or revenge reviews. You need a moderation and takedown process before launch, and a lawyer's view on posting names and addresses. Do not copy or scrape reviews from other sites. The site is also useless until one area has enough reviews.
